The Diploma of Study in Financial Management comprises three modules, in which basic and advanced concepts are developed. To pass the program, you must successfully complete the subjects.

  • MODULE I

    • Fundamentals of Corporate Finance
      The course introduces the participant in the world of financial management, and develops an integral vision of it. It begins with a presentation of the environment of the financial system, of the money and capital markets. It contributes the notion of the value of money over time and applies the criteria for evaluating investments.
    • Quantitative Methods for Finance
      The course is theoretical and practical. It seeks to apply fundamental statistical techniques and the application of software such as Excel. Topics such as descriptive statistics, possibilities theory, random variables, discrete and continuous probability distribution, sampling methods, central limit theory, estimation of confidence intervals, hypothesis testing, correlation and statistical techniques of linear regression analysis are reviewed.
    • Financial Accounting
      The course aims to introduce students to the concepts and principles of financial accounting as a fundamental element for management control and decision making. The learning approach is carried out from the user’s point of view and in terms of its use for management control, that is, the course is directed towards how to use accounting for management purposes, rather than how to do it. In this part, the financial statements (Statement of Financial Position, Statement of Comprehensive Income, Statement of Changes in Equity, and Statement of Cash Flows) are studied as basic control tools and the principles related to financial transactions of assets are analyzed monetary, inventories, fixed assets, debts, income and net worth. These tools are used within a social responsibility approach for decision making.
  • MODULE II

    • Integral Risk Management
      The course is theoretical and practical. It seeks to analyze the fundamentals of risk, as well as the definition and implementation of financial risk in general. The implications of the Basel II agreements in the analysis of financial risk are discussed. The risk, in the form of uncertainty, will be analyzed according to the quantitative information we have available. Issues of forecasting and risk management are discussed, using financial instruments, as well as the risks and opportunities of national and international businesses, measurement techniques, prevention and risk coverage.
    • Operational, Credit and Market Risk Management
      The course is theoretical and practical. It is proposed to apply the models of risk, liquidity, exchange rate and interest rate to evaluate the different types of risk according to Basel II. Operational risk, quantification, frequency and severity distributions, insurance contracts, risk map, model risk and liquidity are reviewed. In credit risk, the critical factors of default, severity and exposure, loss, counterparty risk and credit exposure of the main financial instruments, credit spreads and risk premiums, actuarial approach, scoring models are analyzed. In market risk, options and risk management, volatility, temporary structure of interest rates, modern techniques for measuring market risks, decomposition of financial instruments (mapping to risk factors), back-testing are reviewed of VAR models, theory of extreme values.
    • Corporate Finance
      The course is theoretical and practical. The course deals with the relationship between short-term capital and long-term capital, capital cost, capital structure, CAPM model, estimation of betas and market risk rates, the economic situation and financial decision making in different contexts , operating lever and financial lever, capital increase or reduction decisions, and value creation processes in the company.
  • MODULE III

    • Capital Market and Financial Engineering
      The course is theoretical and practical. Its purpose is to determine comprehensive and practical analysis tools to optimize the use of financial hedges. The origin and impact of the recent financial crises in capital markets are approached based on the understanding of the basic principles of corporate governance and its implications in financial decision-making, as well as the approaches and tools available for a adequate management of financial risks in the current company, both exchange rates and interest rates and raw materials. Likewise, the four types of derivatives are described and applied: forwards, futures, swaps and options.
    • Valuation, Merger and Acquisition of Companies
      At the end of the course, students should be able to understand the motivations of mergers and acquisitions and to apply the evaluation and planning dimensions involved.
    • Personal Finance to Face New Environments (TEC)
      The course aims to give participants the knowledge to radically change their concepts related to personal finance, wealth, consumption, budget, cash flow, among other topics. That the participant acquires a global vision about the strategic importance of personal finances in the current context, in order to promote a financial culture. Provide the necessary knowledge to evaluate interest rates, investments, credits and model financial decision-making for efficient money management. Putting the knowledge learned into practice by applying examples designed to give a practical understanding of each topic.

Summary of the Course:

The company’s role in sustainable development is based on achieving successful results in the economic, environmental and social fields. The relationship of the company with its various stakeholders is essential to achieve these results, with the proper management being that allows the company to grow the business in harmony with the environment and the society in which the company interacts.

The strategic implementation of Corporate Social Responsibility requires the knowledge and effective application of techniques and tools that facilitate the relationship with stakeholders and allow the entrepreneur to move from theory to practice with ethical and sustainable results.

In this context, the course seeks that the participant know the main aspects in the management of relations with his stakeholders with a view to their strategic management for the achievement of ethical and sustainable development.

Professor Rosselló is a Master of Business Administration in General and Strategic Management, Maastricht School of Management, The Netherlands. Master in Strategic Business Administration, Pontifical Catholic University of Peru. B.A. in Graphic Arts, Pontifical Catholic University of Peru. She has international certifications among which stand out: CPCL Harvard Business School, Boston, USA; International Master in Leadership EADA Business School, Barcelona, Spain; Executive Program Customer Experience IE Business School, Madrid, Spain; International Program for Board Members EADA Business School, Barcelona, Spain. To date she is a member of the “Steering Committee” of the EFMD Americas Conference 2019-2021.

She has been Corporate Image Manager of Unique-Yanbal International for Ecuador, Colombia, Peru, Bolivia, Mexico and USA; Marketing Manager of Unique-Peru.
